JC Chasez Creates New Girl Group, Girl Radical

Check out Girl Radical’s first music video. It’s a cover of No Doubt’s 1995 hit, “Just A Girl.” Here’s why Chasez chose to go with a cover as the girls’ debut single.

 

 

“We just like the feel of it. It’s a good jumping-off point as far as a cover tune goes. There are 11 girls, and they can each represent their femininity or toughness or however you take their performance. We shot the video with Steven Barston, and we want you to get a look at the girls, so it’s a clean white wall. For the first couple of videos, we’d like to keep them very simple because you have to get to know them first."

N Sync’s JC Chasez returns to music, but this time he’s the brains of the operation. Along with producer/songwriter Jimmy Harry, the two created a girl group named Girl Radical. Consisting of 11 vocalists, Girl Radical was inspired by giant girl groups currently dominating music in Japan and Korea. The girls come from all walks of life. One of them is Rob Schneider’s niece, while another worked as a hand double, playing piano for the camera. Chasez revealed to Billboard.com, that there could be up to 21 girls in the group. That’s just insane.

Personally, I don’t get the appeal of having so many members in a group. Trying to remember the five spices when Spice Girls first arrived was hard enough. Let’s be honest, besides Nicole Scherzinger who else’s name does the majority of the public know from the Pussycat Dolls? And can you imagine the catfights that could potentially occur due to having so many girls. Trying to outshine a couple of girls is already hard enough, let alone an army of them.
