Even before the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in California earlier this year, the Modern Family writers had already planned to talk marriage equality on the Season 5 premiere. Can you imagine the conundrum they would’ve had to face had the decision gone the other way?
During a table read of the episode titled “Suddenly Last Summer” for Emmy voters at FOX Studios, the show’s plans were revealed. Executive producer Steven Levitan pleaded with tweeters not to spoil any surprises while at the same time acknowledging that a plot tweet was likely to escape. It would appear the latter has occurred. No specific details on how same-sex marriage will be incorporated on the show have surfaced as of yet. I’m sure that will change in the coming days.
Do you think Cam and Mitchell will walk down the aisle? Are you going through Modern Family withdrawals? Sound off below.
