I've always pondered if the Titanic's captain had held the helm hard over in a full circle, she would have approached the very iceberg that sank her.
The lifeboats could have recycled passengers/crew off to sit on the iceberg potential shorelines. The movie (thoroughly researched) likewise depicted many other icebergs in the area. Lifeboats could have ferried over and back emptying the ship of it's 1500 passengers/crew.
