Have you heard the news ? KAT is back online..
A large group of original KickassTorrent staffers has launched a reincarnation of the infamous torrent site, hoping to restore it to its former glory. The new site uses a fresh and secure database, but the look and feel of the platform remains the same. - TorrentFreak
I am starting to think, Torrent websites are a ridiculous concept. KAT's whole database must weigh a couple gigabytes - torrents and their descriptions fit ten to a megabyte. A mere hundred-megabyte archive of all the popular and active stuff could obviate 99% of web searches.
Bittorrent accounts for a massive chunk of all internet traffic. There's terabytes of data sloshing around between peers. Why isn't any of it dedicated to metadata? All a group like KAT should need is a Twitter account to announce daily/weekly digests by magnet URL.
