Amazon To Use Shipping Containers As Mobile Drone Bases

On Friday, Geek.com reports that Amazon.com was just awarded a patent for “Ground-based mobile maintenance facilities for unmanned aerial vehicles.” The purpose for the patent is for Amazon's done-assisted shipping initiative to deliver packages instantly. 

Amazon may be planning to use shipping containers that could be moved between a cargo ship and a train. Amazon plans to make it convenient for its customers to deliver small items to their front doors as soon as they order them. Amazon believes these containers could also provide a convenient space for on-the-go repairs.
